Will Allan ‘09 (pictured right) and Tommy Rivera-Vega ‘11 were each nominated for the prestigious Joseph Jefferson (Jeff) Awards, given annually to honor the best theatre performers and performances in Chicago and surrounding areas.
Allan was nominated for Outstanding Solo Performance for his role as Chester in “Circumference of a Squirrel” at The Greenhouse Theater Center in Chicago.
The Chicago Tribune wrote that Allan’s performance as Chester “combine[d] a low-key self-deprecating charm with a quicksilver ability to embody his parents” and called Allan “thoroughly believable as a man who has lived his life in reaction to his dad.”
Rivera-Vega garnered a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Play for playing Eli in Teatro Vista’s production of “Parachute Men” at the Richard Christiansen Theater in Chicago. The Tribune said that Rivera-Vega imbues his character with “a guileless bundle of nervous energy, autism symptoms and dreams of rock stardom.”
