The men’s track and field team has been recognized for its combination of athletic and academic excellence in unprecedented fashion. The Cardinals were honored as the NCAA Division III National Scholar Team of the Year for the 2017 indoor season by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
North Central accumulated a team grade-point average of 3.15 on a 4.0 scale and won the team national title at Al B. Carius Track. This is the first time since the academic award’s institution in 2007 that the Cardinals have been so honored. In addition, North Central had 10 student-athletes honored by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic Individuals. The total of 10 honorees ranks as the fourth-highest number of recipients from any NCAA Division III institution.
The USTFCCCA also honored the women’s track and field team with a Team Academic Award for the 11th consecutive season. Seven Cardinals received individual All-Academic accolades. The Cardinals posted a team grade-point average of 3.21 for the academic year.
