First-ever traveling concert explores sound and space
For its inaugural spring concert, North Central’s 19-member Chamber Strings traveled the campus presenting a different piece at five fine arts venues as the audience traveled along. Under the direction of Mara Gallagher, the ensemble also played a piece by Bach in each venue to understand the differences in acoustics and sound. In addition, the musicians told the history of each venue.
The concert began in Koten Chapel, which has has been updated with new sconce lighting, new carpeting, a refinished stage and improved foyer area, thanks to the generosity of Koten family, The concert then proceeded to Pfeiffer Hall, Meiley-Swallow Hall, Madden Theatre and Wentz Concert Hall.
