During the annual Career Closet “shopping” event sponsored by the Offices of Student Affairs and Career Development, North Central students select professional clothing donated by faculty, staff and fellow students. “Interview season was coming up and I couldn’t afford to buy a suit,” said marketing major Alice Zordan ‘19, who attended the event. “I really wanted to get valuable work experience and wanted to dress to impress, to let my interviewer know that I was up for the challenge.”
Zordan put her suit to work at the Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI) Career and Internship Fair hosted by North Central in March. “I was one of very few people dressed for an interview,” Zordan said. TTX Company, a Chicago-based freight car provider, offered Zordan a summer internship. She was told her suit impressed the company’s recruiters. A marketing major, she spent the summer working on research, gathering user data and solving problems with business analysts.
“I am project lead for the Career Closet event in January 2019,” Zordan said. “Resources like these let students know that the College is truly here for them, to see them succeed.”
